Job Description

We are excited to announce an opportunity for an adjunct instructor to teach the course Legal and Ethical Issues in Healthcare within the Biological & Health Science Department. This fully online, asynchronous course allows students to engage in the material at their own pace, with no live class meetings required.

This course provides an introduction to the increasingly complex legal and ethical challenges that professionals in health and human services face. Students will gain a broad understanding of the dilemmas encountered in clinical settings and how these impact treatment and service decisions. By exploring a range of legal and ethical issues, this course aims to cultivate critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, especially in relation to the fields of law, ethics, and bioethics.

Through this course, students will learn how to approach ethical and legal questions in medical science and technology, building their ability to make informed and thoughtful decisions in healthcare settings. The course places a strong emphasis on understanding the ethical and legal landscape of healthcare, supporting students in making ethical choices and promoting ethical leadership within the field. Students will also reflect on the broader impact of ethical positions on individuals and communities.

While the goal is not to change students' personal beliefs, it is essential for them to clarify and defend their positions on bioethical issues and understand how others with differing beliefs arrive at their decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master's degree in biology, health science, or a closely related field.
At least 12 graduate credits in biology, health science, or a closely related field.
A minimum of two years of experience teaching biology or health science courses.

Preferred Experience:

At least two years of experience teaching in an online or remote learning environment.
A demonstrated ability to create engaging, interactive educational experiences for students with varying learning styles.
Experience integrating open educational materials into course content as appropriate.
Compensation: Compensation will be based on the instructor's academic qualifications and teaching or industry experience.

Salary: $ 20.00 25.00 Per Hour
