Job Overview:

The Psychiatric Certified Screener provides care in the acute care setting within the scope of practice defined by the Screening Law and other regulatory standards, Assures safety in practice by maintaining a realization of their level of knowledge and experience, and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge by communicating with and utilizing resource persons/programs available. The Psychiatric Screener individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient's needs.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • MSW/MA degree in a related field, or BA/BS plus three years of prior experience in a psychiatric setting, one of which is in a crisis setting or enrolled in a Master's program with two years of prior experience in a psychiatric setting, one of which is in a crisis setting.
  • Must have the ability to work in stressful situations
  • MUST HAVE THREE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN MENTAL HEALTH SETTING POST-BA/BS DEGREE OR 1 YEAR POST MASTERS DEGREE,

Preferred:

Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable):

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):

  • Per Diem
  • Night
  • Holidays and Weekends

Essential Functions:

  • Works in harmony with other staff members of an interdisciplinary team, assisting the Patient Care Manager and others as needed, to achieve the best service possible to patients.
  • Responsible for supervising and assisting with patient care issues.
  • Following up on assigned tasks and for consistently setting and evaluating priorities, it is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments, i, e, damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas. Medical errors, etc.
