Job Description
We invite qualified applicants to join our Chemistry Department as part-time adjunct faculty members for the upcoming Spring 2025, Summer 2025, and Fall 2025 semesters. We are looking for dedicated educators to teach in our undergraduate and graduate programs, both in-person on our vibrant campus in West Hartford, CT, and fully online. Current openings include:
About the Chemistry Department: Our department offers both Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Master of Science (M.S.) degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry. Our undergraduate program supports chemistry and biochemistry majors as well as students pursuing pre-health professions. The fully online MS program serves a diverse range of students, including secondary educators and chemical professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach between 2-6 credits, engaging students through lectures and interactive learning.
Prepare course materials such as lectures, projects, homework, and assessments in alignment with the course syllabus.
Timely grading of student assignments and providing constructive feedback to enhance academic success.
Maintain regularly scheduled office hours; adjunct faculty must be available for at least one additional hour per week, either in-person or virtually, to support students.
Attend program and department meetings as needed.
Demonstrate effective teaching practices in college-level courses, providing clear instruction on course content.
Utilize technology effectively to facilitate teaching and learning.
Attend all designated class periods as per the academic calendar.
Submit mid-semester and final grades to the Registrar's Office on time and leave all course records with the department chair upon course completion.
Foster a supportive atmosphere conducive to student success.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher in Chemistry or a related field for teaching undergraduate courses, with degrees from regionally accredited institutions.
Previous teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated cultural competency in working with diverse student and employee populations.
A commitment to the institution's mission.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Additional Information:
Teaching assignments are part-time and determined on a semester basis, contingent on student enrollment and departmental needs.
Courses may be offered in various formats, including in-person, synchronous online, and asynchronous online, at different times throughout the week. Please indicate your general availability and experience with these formats in your cover letter.

Compensation:
Non-Terminal Degree & 0-6 credits experience: $3,000
Terminal Degree & 0-6 credits experience: $3,200
