Our department provided care in over 290,000 clinic visits (at 20+ locations) and 100,000+ procedural and ancillary services encounters, staffing occupational clinics at 60+ locations across the country, and was the primary attending on 25,000+ inpatient admissions at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, and other health system affiliates, generating more than $567+ million in revenue for the hospitals. POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Administrative Officer of Medicine is the administrative leader for Medicine for The Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH), Department of Medicine, the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and wherever JHU School of Medicine (SOM) faculty and providers are deployed. The CAO has overall responsibility for the successful development, implementation and advancement of programmatic strategies and initiatives for the Department of Medicine. The incumbent, along with faculty leaders, leads the development, coordination and integration of internal medicine subspecialties across the region, including clinical operations, training and research activities, network affiliations, and quality and performance improvement.
The general scope of responsibilities includes: strategic planning, financial management, business development and execution, grant management, contract administration, compensation planning, personnel management, recruiting, faculty relations and development, utilization and productivity management, marketing, space management, and general operations of the DOM.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The CAO reports to the Director of the Department of Medicine, the Chief Operating Officer for JHH, and the Vice Dean for Finance and Administration for the SOM, and works collegially and collaboratively with Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHUSOM, JHHS, JHH, JHBMC) senior executives and JHU faculty across the system. This role is a critical leader and advisor to senior leadership in both the Department and JHM as a whole. The CAO also is a key contact for JHM relationships including, but not limited to, compliance, development, finance, human resources, government affairs, internal audits, legal, marketing and communications, Office of Johns Hopkins Physicians, and central core services.
The position directly supervises the SOM Administrator, Director of Finance, Director of Operations – JHH, Director of Ambulatory Operations & Access, Communications Manager, Director of Professional Fee Billing, and Administrative Resident(s). A number of indirect relationships exist.

Salary Range: Minimum $220,000- Maximum $300,000+ incentive. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
