Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our team as temporary adjunct faculty within the Office of Clinical Practice, part of our Education Department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of teacher candidates and in-service teachers by offering guidance, support, and feedback.
The ideal candidate will bring teaching experience within Connecticut, possess the necessary Connecticut teaching certifications, and have a strong background in supervising teacher candidates. We are particularly looking for candidates with a minimum of a Master's in Education and an active teaching certificate.
Role Overview: As an adjunct faculty member, you will be responsible for leading the student teaching supervisory course, which will meet once a week in the evening. Your role will involve teaching the course, remotely supervising student teachers using specialized software, evaluating their instructional practices, and providing constructive feedback to help them improve.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and/or update the course syllabus in alignment with department objectives
Prepare lectures, assignments, projects, and assessments
Grade student assignments and provide timely, constructive feedback
Maintain office hours (minimum of one hour per week) to support students either in-person or virtually
Attend departmental meetings as required
Stay current with teaching methods and best practices for higher education
Utilize technology such as Blackboard and TEAMS to enhance the learning experience
Complete CPAST assessment system training (materials will be provided)
Submit mid-semester and final grades within the required timeframe
Foster a positive rapport with students and colleagues to promote a collaborative learning environment
Qualifications:
Prior teaching experience in the field of Education
A Master's degree in Education (Terminal degree preferred)
Active Connecticut teaching certificate(s) required
Experience in virtual teaching formats
Knowledge of the EdTPA assessment system is preferred
Strong commitment to cultural competency, working with diverse students, and K-12 school populations
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders
Additional Information:
Teaching assignments are part-time and semester-based, dependent on student enrollment and departmental needs
Courses are offered in various formats (in-person, synchronous online, and asynchronous online) and at different times (days, evenings, and weekends)

Adjunct pay rates per 3-credit course are based on your degree and teaching experience
Compensation:
Non-Terminal Degree/0-6 Credits Experience: $3,000.00
Terminal Degree/0-6 Credits Experience: $3,200.00
Non-Terminal Degree/7+ Credits Experience: $3,400.00
Terminal Degree/7+ Credits Experience: $3,700.00
