JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Apply mechanical engineering knowledge to the design and development of products as well as product changes and enhancements within design standards and workflows.
- Solve mechanical engineering problems from component through system level.
- Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, calculations, drawings, and processes.
- Ensures new products meet functional and non-functional specifications, including safety, performance, cost, reliability, & manufacturability.
- Devises and conducts validation tests to ensure product quality.
- Troubleshoots operational issues and devises short and long-term remedies.
- Applies engineering theory to solve complex problems.
- Learns & applies new skills as projects require.
- Maintains knowledge of new technologies and applies where appropriate.
- Identifies & acts on opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Collaborates with and supports teammates and other colleagues.
- Directs junior engineers, technologists, and technicians as necessary.
- Travels to customer sites to commission pre-production tests or troubleshoot technical issues (less than 10%).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience designing or supporting industrial equipment.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (ABET) or a related field
- Exposure to design of automatic equipment. 3D CAD (SolidWorks a plus), 2D CAD drafting, and MS Office. * Ability to design in 3D and have be creative (SolidWorks)
- Experience within a weld/fabrication/industrial equipment.
- Experience with engineering calculations
- Testing experience (Lifecycle, failure mode)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with pneumatics is a plus
- Masters in Mechanical Engineering a plus.
- Labview, National instruments (Nice to have but not required for the analytic role)
