Job Title: UX/UI Designer

Location: Baltimore, MD (On-site or must reside within 2 hours of SSA Headquarters in Woodlawn, MD,VA,DE)

Overview:
We are seeking a talented UX/UI Designer to join a team supporting the design and development of user-centered digital solutions for a major federal client. This is a full-time role requiring occasional on-site meetings in Woodlawn, MD. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in UX/UI design, front-end technologies, and design tools like Figma and Axure. A digital portfolio is required.

Position:
UX/UI Designer (Full-Time, Hybrid Onsite as Needed)

Responsibilities:

• Apply user-centered design methodologies to align user needs and business goals

• Design and document UI elements, flows, and screen designs

• Collaborate with developers to build web components for a design system

• Conduct discovery sessions and usability testing

• Present findings and design recommendations to stakeholders

• Create prototypes, diagrams, and manage design libraries (Figma, Axure, Adobe XD)

• Integrate design tokens into design systems

• Support front-end development with HTML, CSS, JavaScript

• Maintain detailed design specifications and usability outcomes

• Perform other UX-related tasks as needed

Requirement Qualifications:

• 8+ years in interaction/interface design with user-centered methods

• 8+ years documenting UI requirements and screen flows

• 4+ years presenting findings to various audiences

• 2+ years in front-end development (HTML/CSS/JavaScript)

• Expertise in Figma, Axure RP (preferably Axure 10), Adobe XD

• Strong oral and written communication

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust Clearance

• Digital portfolio is required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with design tokens and systems

• Familiarity with StencilJS and component libraries

• Version control using Git/GitHub

• Background in usability testing

• Experience with Pega or ServiceNow

• Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies

• Federal project experience

• Section 508 & accessibility compliance knowledge

• UX certifications (NN/g, General Assembly, etc.)

Additional Information:

• Candidates must live within 2 hours of Woodlawn, MD

• Occasional onsite meetings required

• Portfolio submission is mandatory with resume

Candidate Details:

• Strong UX/UI portfolio

• Experienced in Figma, Axure, and front-end technologies
