Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated adjunct instructor to teach an engaging and thought-provoking course on Legal and Ethical Issues in Healthcare within the Biological & Health Science Department. This asynchronous online course does not require live class meetings, offering flexibility for both instructors and students.
Course Overview:
This course introduces students to the increasingly complex legal and ethical issues faced by professionals working in health and human services. By exploring a broad range of topics, it aims to help practitioners respond effectively to dilemmas encountered in clinical settings. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the intricate ethical and legal issues involved in treatment and service decisions.
A key aspect of the course is fostering students' critical and creative thinking skills, enabling them to reason clearly and make well-informed decisions regarding the ethical and legal challenges they may face in healthcare settings. The course emphasizes the importance of understanding the legal and ethical environment of healthcare, making appropriate ethical and legal choices in practice, and developing the leadership skills necessary to promote ethical and legal decision-making within healthcare organizations.
Importantly, the course encourages students to clarify their positions on various bioethical issues, understand their personal beliefs, and engage in respectful dialogue with others who may hold differing views. While the course does not aim to change students' beliefs, it does provide a framework to help them defend their positions and understand the decision-making processes of others with different perspectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
A master's degree in biology, health science, or a closely related field.
A minimum of 12 graduate credits in biology, health science, or a closely related field.
At least two years of experience teaching biology or health science courses.

A minimum of two years of experience teaching in an online or remote learning environment.
Proven ability to create interactive and engaging educational experiences that accommodate students with diverse learning styles.
