License/Certification Required Essential Job Functions Office of Arts Engagement Customer Service Team About the Venues: - Turchin Center for the Visual Arts : The region's premier visual arts facility, the Turchin Center, engages the community with thought-provoking exhibitions, educational programs, and year-round public events. It serves as a welcoming space for discovery and dialogue through contemporary art.
- Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts : A central hub for live performance on campus, the Schaefer Center presents a diverse array of concerts, theatrical productions, and outreach programs. It is home to the APPlause! K-12 Performing Arts Series, App Summer, Appalachian Arts, and hosts both university and professional events.
Position: Office of Arts Engagement Customer Service Team Member Part-time The Office of Arts Engagement is hiring reliable, outgoing, and team-oriented individuals to serve as frontline representatives across our arts venues. Team members may work in roles supporting gallery operations, box office and ticketing, event coordination, and visitor services at the Turchin Center, Schaefer Center, and during App Summer events.
Key Responsibilities: - Welcome and assist guests at exhibitions, performances, and events
- Share accurate information about ongoing programs and offerings
- Operate front desk and box office systems, including ticketing and point-of-sale tools
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment for visitors and colleagues
- Coordinate with volunteers, student workers, and supervisors as needed
- Assist with event setup, breakdown, and general logistics
- Demonstrate clear communication, professionalism, and problem-solving
- Assist the Director of Audience Services, Visitor Services Coordinator, and Curatorial Assistant as needed and applicable.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications: - Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
- Comfortable using or learning digital systems (POS, ticketing, communication tools)
- A collaborative spirit and interest in the arts
- Available to work 10+ hours per week, including evenings and weekends as needed
Work Schedule/Hours: As needed depending on events and exhibitions.Turchin Center is open Tuesday – Saturday from 10:00-6:00, 8:00 on FridaysSchaefer Center Box Office is open Monday – Friday 10:00 – 5:00Events typically happen 7:30 – 11:30Flexible availability required.
