Under general direction, the Office Technician performs a variety of duties in support of their assigned program area.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. **Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. **Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

  • Ability to perform difficult clerical work; operate various office machines; type at a speed of not less than 40 words per minute from manuscript, printed or typewritten material; extrapolate information from various documents; consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence, and originality in performing assigned tasks; and to maintain regular attendance and be punctual.

    Typing certificates are required for this classification. State departments will only honor typing certificates issued within the last four years and certified from a five (5) minute typing test that meets the CalHR requirements, with a minimum of 40 words per minute. Typing certificate must be included at the time of submission or your application may be screened out.
